Professional And Experienced Corporate Law Attorney

Debbie-Ann Farrier Durand

DEBBIE-ANN FARRIER brings to her role over 30 years of substantial expertise in commercial and corporate law, specializing in corporate finance. She is noted for her deep-seated experience and a progressive career that showcases a firm commitment to excellence in the legal field.

During the 1990s, Ms. Farrier carved out a prominent niche in the industry through her collaboration with PWC Jamaica, spearheading the establishment of a receivership practice at a reputable law firm. Her tenure at Finsac Ltd, a government entity dedicated to addressing challenges with faltering corporations and financial institutions, further underscored her capability to handle complex financial issues.

Beyond her practical involvement, Ms. Farrier has contributed significantly to the sector’s educational advancements, engaging in lecture series aimed at banking professionals where she provided insights on pivotal topics such as securities and enforcement protocols.

Marking a milestone in her career, Ms. Farrier distinguished herself as the first Attorney-at-Law to secure a license as a Trustee under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act. This recognition showcases her profound knowledge and experience in the fields of rescue and creditors’ protection, not just in Trinidad and Tobago, but also across the Caribbean region.

In a significant role between 2012 and 2018, Ms. Farrier served as a key figure at the Deposit Insurance Corporation, overseeing its legal department during the liquidation of a prominent Investment Bank in Trinidad and Tobago with TT$BNs in assets. During her tenure, she adeptly managed a diverse portfolio encompassing receiverships, liquidations, and asset recoveries across various Caribbean territories, including Martinique, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Antigua, Suriname, and Guyana.

Currently, Ms. Farrier is leveraging her expertise as a consultant, overseeing the successful conclusion of several projects and assists in research for the forthcoming edition of the “Commonwealth Caribbean Company Law” text.
